Today, I’m very excited to announce the new Price.com. This announcement is especially meaningful for me as I started Price to simply solve a problem that I encountered through my own experience as a consumer.
Earlier this year, I was shopping for a new seating solution for my home. I ended up finding the perfect, black leather sofa for $2,000 and purchased it. Shortly after that, however, I saw the exact same piece for only $1,200 at a different retailer. I felt ripped off, frustrated and annoyed by this experience. I realized that I could have saved a lot of money if only I had known about all of my purchasing options in advance.
Interestingly, I immediately recognized many parallels between my dissatisfying shopping experience and the problems we focused on with my last company that I co-founded, Appurify, which solved fragmentation issues for mobile developers across devices. Appurify was acquired by Google in 2014, and is now powering Google Test Labs. After my shopping disappointment, I realized that the online shopping industry also has many fragmentation issues for consumers.
And from that, Price was born with an initial goal to increase transparency and purchasing confidence by displaying all purchasing options to consumers. Since then, the Price products have evolved beyond what I originally conceived: to become the one-stop shop for finding savings and discovering deals, seamlessly, before a consumer makes a purchase of any type.
I’ve assembled an amazing team of engineers, machine learning experts, designers, product specialists and advisors. And, with today’s announcement, The Price Team is excited to bring you a revolutionary shopping experience, starting in early 2017. Get ready to Price It, before you buy it!
